silent and still
built into a hill
On a road of gravel and dust..
She sits all alone
her lawn overgrown
as she turns into pebbles & rust.

Hi Connie
what a beautiful photo! I didn’t even know houses became derelict in the USA!
The poem is what I like to – short and focussed.
This home reminds me of the beauties that were built in my hometown, (Quincy, Illinois,) and are thankfully mostly maintained or rehabbed. This must have been a lovely site once upon a time…
I bet this was an awesome house in its hey-day. How someone could let a big beautiful house like this just go to waste I will never know!!!
